I first learned about Paeonia Medical Initiative and were inspired by its mission and the impact it hopes to make in healthcare. I wanted to find a meaningful way to contribute and support the organization’s work, which led me to establish a branch of Paeonia. Since then, my team and I have worked together to fundraise and share educational content through our page. This experience has given us a greater understanding of the importance of healthcare advocacy and the role students can play in making a difference. We hope to continue growing our branch and supporting Paeonia’s mission while encouraging others to become involved in healthcare.
I joined Paeonia Med because I’m passionate about making a real difference in people’s lives, not just through medicine but also by strengthening our community. The idea of an organization that blends healthcare with direct community engagement really resonated with me. I believe that true well-being comes from both excellent medical care and a supportive, healthy environment, and Paeonia Med’s mission perfectly aligns with that belief.
After discovering the Paeonia Medical Initiative and its vision for healthcare, it inspired me to take action. As someone driven to make a tangible impact, I co-founded a local Paeonia branch to support the organization’s core mission and my local community. With the team we’ve created team, we have lead efforts to raise funds and create educational content that promotes health literacy. Through this work, we’ve seen firsthand how student-led advocacy can drive real change and we are committed to expanding our reach, supporting Paeonia’s growth, and inspiring others to join the cause.
After seeing one of Paeonia Medical Initiative’s Instagram Reels on my feed, I was eager to be a part of this mission. I have experience leading organizations similar to Paeonia, but I also wanted to advocate for an initiative like this: for health equality for all people. This is why I founded my branch, along with a classmate, who is also passionate about our mission. To help spread awareness, we have partnered with local libraries in order to communicate with members of our community on the importance of equal health access. By doing so, Paeonia has helped to mobilize young people into using their voice in order to start creating noticeable change in their communities.
I’m Rida, founder of the Paeonia Medical Initiative (Chitral Branch). My mission is to build a healthier, more equitable Chitral for our underprivileged communities. We bridge critical healthcare gaps by spreading vital health literacy and providing life-saving medication to those who cannot afford it, ensuring financial hardship never stands between a family and their fundamental right to health.
My name is Jeren Chi, and I am a rising senior at Ward Melville. I started Paeonia Stony Brook, NY Branch because when I had discovered the organization I connected deeply with its purpose and knew I wanted to expand its influence across Long Island as well as the world. Through Paeonia, my branch and I hope to increase health literacy and improve medical policy by expanding our social media presence as well as our physical presence through holding events such as supply drives for LI Cares and arranging farmers market stands to increase awareness of Parkinsons disease. Through these efforts and many more, we hope to emulate the efforts of Paeonia and improve health literacy around the world. We are also accepting new members.
When I saw Paeonia’s instagram page in my suggestions I was very intrigued, even more so after getting familiar with the organisation. I instantly knew that my country needs more of such initiatives, and that I can do a lot of good by becoming a part of this organisation, so I did. Ever since then I’ve met so many amazing, talented people whilst establishing the Islamabad branch of Paeonia, I must admit it hasn’t always been easy but I’ve loved every second of it. I hope me and my team can bring lots of good to our community, and ultimately make this world a better place for everyone!
Paoenia, the name made me think of a herbal medicine - as it quite literally is! - which had been intriguing since my first impression of the team, why you may ask? Its because, I’d always think how an NGO would live-up to a herbal medicine. Thats what pulled me in, and from then its been an adventure! I met the taskforce which wanted to live up to the name, Paeonia! They wanted to aid, and assist in countless ways which made me do the same, and since then its truly been a wonderful experience!
Since childhood, i’ve been an aspiring pediatric surgeon due to many factors. Such as my family being very susceptible to diseases such as some cases of cancer & having a low immune system, or when I would take care of my families old daycare everyday as a child myself, when my relative would suffer a mental illness that shaped my childhood differently than others. Inspiring me to be in the health career, but specifically surgery, because of the complexity and lack of pediatric surgeons around the globe. For years i’ve been searching for many opportunities in which I could make an impact, small or large. HOSA was one of the first sparks that came up in my research, the more recent ones would be being able to start my own chapter here. I’m currently putting all my passion into engineering something that could change the future of education in pediatric hospitals.
Healthcare is something that affects everyone, but not everyone has the same ability to access it. I’ve always found it important to understand the barriers that prevent people from receiving the care they need, whether those barriers come from financial circumstances, lack of resources, or simply not having enough information. That’s what motivated me to get involved with Paeonia and help bring its mission to Houston. I want to use this opportunity to educate others about health inequities while also finding ways for our community to make a difference. As a co-founder of the Houston branch, I hope to help create initiatives that bring people together and make conversations about healthcare accessibility more common.
Growing up in Houston, I witnessed major gaps between neighborhoods in areas such as development, resources, opportunities, and access to healthcare. Recognizing these differences inspired me to start a branch of Paeonia in Houston with my friend, Emma Tan. Through Paeonia, we strive to support the growth of health equity by raising awareness about the difficulties many people face when seeking medical care. We envision a healthier and more equitable Houston, and work towards this goal by organizing fundraising events and encouraging active community involvement. We believe that healthcare is a basic necessity that should be equally available to all, regardless of their background and circumstances. Together, we aim to build a healthier, more inclusive community where healthcare isn’t a privilege, but a right available to all.
I’m Jia Marguerite Alexa D. Valencia, and I started the Paeonia Medical Initiative in Rizal, Philippines. Growing up, it always bothered me seeing how hard it is for so many people to get the medical help they need just because of their circumstances. Helping lead Paeonia with my hardworking friends enables me to do so much more for the community. Together, we are focused on reaching communities that usually get left behind and making sure quality healthcare is accessible to them. For me, this initiative isn’t just a project—it’s a lifelong commitment to grow, support those around me, and help build a healthier community for all of us.
“The branch that bears the most fruit bows the lowest.” As a quiet child watching the world unfold, I learned early on that life can be deeply unfair. Unable to simply stand by, my desire to help gave me a voice long before I found my own. That quiet observation grew into a lifelong passion for service, shaping me into a listener, a leader, a teacher, a healer, and most importantly, a friend. I stand by the belief that everyone deserves the chance to live comfortably and fully—and I’ve always looked for spaces where that kind of empathy can turn into real work. That’s why joining Paeonia alongside my friends felt like the right home for this passion, giving us a platform to share our fruits for the good of our community.
